Mark Kennedy said that there has been no panic within the Swindon Town squad despite their disappointing defeat to Walsall last weekend.
In their first home game of the season, Town were met with some muted boos as they were trounced 4-0 by the Saddlers.
Now they head to face Crewe Alexandra who suffered a similar result last weekend and Kennedy said that the defeat has not impacted anyone in the building’s belief in the direction of travel.
He said: “The bond between myself, the coaching staff, and the players on the training ground is really positive and there is a real buy-in from everybody.
“I am not this kind of guy but if I say ‘Jump’ the guys say ‘How high?’ we don’t work like that but there is a real buy-in of what people can do to help.
“It is the same from the staff and there is a real unity and connection with that but ultimately football is about winning games.
“That is what you are all judged on ultimately but I think the picture and the process needs to be much bigger than that but people aren’t always capable of seeing long-term, everything in football seems to be short-term.
“If you are judging everything on the short-term then for me you are destined for failure.”
Kennedy added that he did not believe that the team needed to justify their work so far with a victory over Crewe, just demonstrate what they are capable of and the effort they have put in.
He said: “We don’t need to prove anybody wrong, we want to prove ourselves right in what we are trying to do.
“Do we need a response? Yes. But if I am living in a world where you lose your second game and there is a crisis then I would rather spend my time with my wife and my kids.
“Everybody just wants to find a negative; and bad news on that because I am a very positive guy and I am big on gratitude and living without resentment.
“Naturally fans should want to see the pain it has caused us but for a coach to come out and say ‘we are hurt, we are down, we are angry, we will run ourselves into the ground’ is just clichés and nonsense, we are paid to do that, that is the minimum requirement.
“I am very calm, very positive, and I see really good things.”
