A string of impressive Academy performances have earned goalkeeper Redman Evans a professional contract at Swindon Town

Evans was pivotal in the 2023-24 season side that went eight games unbeaten in the Youth Alliance League and which was unfortunate to not finish top of the table, while also playing a pivotal role in the side's run to the quarter-final in the FA Youth Cup earlier this year.

Initially joining Swindon Town's Academy in 2022, Redman was a regular feature in between the sticks for the youth side, where he played a large part in the U18's success last season, before earning his place in the Swindon Town first-team squad on numerous occasions in 2023-24.

The goalkeeper finished the season with arguably his proudest moment with the club to date, making his league debut in Town's final game of the season against Morecambe back in April, having originally made his first-team debut earlier last campaign in a Bristol Street Motors Trophy group stage game against Exeter back in November 2023.

Upon signing his first professional contract, the young shot-stopper said: "I’m buzzing to sign my first professional contract.

"After a fantastic season of learning and developing to make me ready for this moment last season with the U18s, including the run in FA Youth Cup which will stick with me for a long time, it makes it even better that it’s with this great club and I can’t wait to get continue my journey and learn from the goalkeeper group we have at STFC."

Academy manager, Alex Pike said: "Redman’s growth as a person and player, in such a short space of time, has been incredible to observe.

Lead professional development phase coach, Sean Wood added: "I'm really proud of what Redman has achieved during his time in the academy, in particular leading the U18s with the armband throughout a positive league and cup campaign.

"He has shown he can show the correct mentality on and off the pitch and this has helped him develop into a positive character and brilliant person.

"He has shown this with multiple visits to our academy events across the season, being a role model for our goalkeepers and I believe Redman has a bright future and I’m delighted to see this continue at our football club."
