A fashion show is to shine a spotlight on the issue of domestic abuse.

Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service (SDASS) is hosting a fundraising fashion show, blending festive style with the town's preventative and educational programmes.

The event on Thursday, December 4, is being be held at The Underground at Orbital Retail Park and will feature clothes and accessories from the SWA Survivor charity shop.

The clothing on display at the show will be available to buy, with all proceeds going towards the charity's support programmes aimed at helping children and young people affected by domestic abuse.

Emma Maclennan, children and young people's manager, said: "The fundraising fashion show is set to be an excellent evening of fun and style.

"Every penny raised will go directly to fund what we are doing to empower and educate with the vision to create a society without abuse.

"Every item of clothing that will be showcased on the catwalk or available to buy has been donated by generous members of the public to our shop.

"We’ve also received donations and help from other businesses, including Haydon Wick School, Tesco, and Asda, to make the event a night to remember."

In addition to the fashion show, the evening will also feature a raffle with prizes suitable for Christmas presents.

Ms Maclennan added: "So, you can get your presents and style all wrapped up for Christmas early, and support the work that SWA/SDASS does across the town at the same time."

Tickets for the show cost £5, which includes a glass of mulled wine or a soft drink and a mince pie.

They are available for purchase from the SWA Survivor shop in The Parade, Swindon town centre.

The SWA Fashion Show will be held from 6pm to 8pm.

The Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service is a free and confidential service that serves Swindon and the surrounding area.

It was originally founded in 1974 as Swindon Women’s Aid and works towards stopping abuse through education, prevention, and community collaboration.

The service also has a specialist children and young people's team that supports youngsters and works with educators to build knowledge of healthy relationships.
