Mystery surrounds a graffiti artist who is painting bright and cheerful pink clouds on walls and boards around Trowbridge.

The man, who appears to be young, is painting his artwork on hoardings and walls, including railway bridges.

Trowbridge Town Council leader Stewart Palmen said: “I don’t mind them. They are cheerful and neatly done and are not offensive.”

But some residents are concerned about the proliferation of the images, saying there are too many appearing, and that some appear to be painted on stone walls where it may be difficult to clean them off.

The artist is usually dressed in grey or dark clothing with a hood covering his face and always with his back to the videographer who records his actions.

The artist tags his works cuss_above and has an Instagram account where you can see some of the paintings he has previously produced.

In one, he appears to be using emulsion paint and a roller to paint a wall under a railway bridge, and in another he attaches a picture to a board on a wall using screws.

He is also pictured spray-painting bright pink clouds on a wall next to a busy motorway.

It is not known whether cuss_above is local but he is keen to hide his identity, much like the more famous ‘Banksy’ from Bristol, whose graffiti artworks and international reputation are well-known.

The Wiltshire Times has attempted to contact cuss_above but has had no response.
