Seven students are gaining industry experience in Swindon and other southern England locations with construction firm Beard.
They are taking part in a year-long on-the-job training programme across Beard's offices in Bristol, Guildford, and Southampton, as well as Swindon.
Beard's head of people and communications, Melissa Barber, said: "We’re proud to invest in the next generation of professionals as they lay the foundations for rewarding careers in construction.
"It is vital that, as an industry, we support new talent with training, guidance and mentorship."
The firm has welcomed its first master's student, Amber Kamugisha, who is studying architecture at the University of Exeter.
She is one of the seven students and is working at the firm's Swindon office alongside James Hall, who is studying mechanical engineering at the University of Exeter.
Izzy Scanlan, a quantity surveying and commercial management student at Oxford Brookes University, which has a Swindon campus, is another of the seven students.
She said: "The work has been really varied so far.
"From learning how to use cutting-edge new software to measuring cladding, I’ve been able to see the process that goes into a build - from the foundations to the final result."
