A Swindon man is appealing to the public to help a mother of six after losing her husband to cancer.
Viorel Havristiuc, 46, set up the GoFundMe page for Alina Petruța Dediu and her six children, four of whom are adopted, after Alina’s husband Emil passed away shortly after being diagnosed with liver cancer in August.
The page has already raised £4,400 of its £10,000 target, with the money being used to finish construction of a family home in Romania that Emil had started before falling ill.
Viorel, who lives in Badbury Park, said: “I knew Emil for four years and know Alina very well, so when he passed I asked the Emanuel Romanian Church in Swindon how we could help, and this is what we came up with.”
Viorel and Emil became close friends when Emil would visit Swindon from Romania for work, with the pair bonding over their children.
Viorel said: “I have adopted three children, so when I heard Emil had adopted four while also having two of his own and living in a poor area, it moved me."
