Latest photos from the scene of a fire at the old Wiltshire College has shown smoke billowing over Chippenham.
Emergency services were called to reports of a fire on Cocklebury Road in Chippenham at around 10:42am on Monday, November 11.
Despite reports of the fire breaking out at a scrapyard, eyewitness statements and photos from the scene appear to show the blaze in the carpark for the former Wiltshire College in Chippenham.
Two fire engines from Chippenham and Corsham rushed to the incident and the fire was extinguished by two firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus and hose reel jets.
A man in his 20s has now been treated by paramedics for smoke inhalation following the blaze.
But despite the scale of the fire which causes smoke to billow over the town of Chippenham, police are treating the incident as 'accidental'.
"We responded to a fire in a car park on Cocklebury Road, Chippenham, at 11.15am this morning (11/11)," said a spokesperson for Wiltshire Police.
"The cause of the fire was recorded as accidental and there were no reported injuries."
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Services, which responded first to the incident, said: “We were called at 10:42am today following reports of a fire at a scrapyard on Cocklebury Road, Chippenham.
“Two fire engines were mobilised (Chippenham and Corsham) and on arrival found multiple vehicles alight which were extinguished by two breathing apparatus wearers using two hose reel jets.
“One male in his twenties was treated by crews for smoke inhalation and left in the care of the ambulance service. Our stop was in at 11:48am.”
Emergency services had left the scene by 11:48am.
