A Swindon man feels he has been let down by Wiltshire Police after having to drive himself and his son to hospital after an alleged assault.
Mr Darren Gore says that he and his son Kyle, 18, were stopped at traffic lights on Mead Way on October 24 when they became involved in an altercation with the occupants of a van.
Mr Gore, 44, claims: “My son and I were travelling via moped, with my son driving, when a van driver pulled up to literally a centimetre from our back wheel and started hurling abuse at us.
“While stopped at the traffic lights, I tapped on their window to explain that my son was only permitted to travel at 30mph by law and that their behaviour was not acceptable.
“The passenger then exited his vehicle and put his fists up in the stance of fighting. I initially put my fists up as well in self-defence but then made it clear that it was not worth fighting over.

“At this point the passenger swung a left-hand punch into my face that knocked me clean out, while the driver also punched my son in the face.”
Police attended the scene after Kyle called 999, but Darren says he is disappointed with how the police assisted him.
“Nobody from the police spoke to me at the time or since despite the blood pouring from my face. We had to get back on the moped and drive ourselves to the hospital.
"I feel a bit let down by the police service."
Nearly three weeks on, Darren says he still suffering from headaches and has been unable to return to his work as a self-employed mobile valeter due to injuries to his nose and two black eyes.
He is urging road users to be more wary of others on the road who may have to follow different speed limits to others.
“There is just no need for road rage, everyone has to get somewhere. This is my son’s first vehicle, he shouldn’t have to be assaulted and then no action taken afterwards.”
Wiltshire Police have confirmed that the incident has been recorded and is under investigation.
A spokesperson for Wiltshire Police said: "While we wouldn't comment on individual cases, we take reports of assault seriously and endeavour to contact all victims to ensure they are kept updated and safeguarded."
