Is autumn getting you down? Fear not, bonfire night is here to change that.

The nights are getting darker and the temperatures are plummeting, which signals that Christmas is just around the corner.

But before we get ahead of ourselves, we have a sparkler or two to get through.

Many events in Swindon and close by are affordable and guarantee a great night out for all the family.

Swindon fireworks for 2024:

Abingdon Fireworks display

Price: From £8.90, Infants ages 0 - 2 go free

Location: Abingdon Airfield, Abingdon, OX13 6JA

Facilities: Funfair, toilets, drive-in tickets available, entertainment

Date/Times: Saturday, November 9, Gates 4pm, Fireworks 7:30pm

Abingdon Bonfire and Firework Display is the UK's biggest firework display.

This year's will include a large bonfire, fireballs and a fairground. Make an evening with family and friends marvelling at stunning explosions of colour under the night sky by making the 45-minute trip to nearby Abingdon.

Friends of St Catherine School

November 1, 2024, gates open 17:30 pm.

 Tickets can be purchased in advance via this link or at the door. 

Byron Satchell, a committee member of Friends of St Catherines said: "The upcoming event is The Friends of St Catherines Firework Display.

"The organised event conducted by an outside company will consist of other attractions, including a disco, sweet stall and face painting.

"We are hoping that this will make a massive contribution to buying and installing 8 interactive white boards for the classrooms.

"These cost approx. £1000 each. Currently the school uses projectors and chalkboards which are outdated. 

"Tickets are already available to book online and are open to everyone."

Gates and Funfair open from 5.00 pm. Firework display at 6.45 pm promptly.

Entry will be by tickets purchased in advance only and tickets can either be purchased from the One Stop Shop, Guildford Avenue, Lawns or online – see the website.

Swindon Lions Club will be holding its annual fireworks show on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at the Polo Ground, Marlborough Road.

In addition to the Fireworks display and BBC Radio Wiltshire's James Threlfell, there will also be a funfair as well as refreshment stalls.

The net proceeds from the fireworks display will be used by the Lions Club for charitable causes.

Swindon Cricket Club

Price: Adults £7, kids (under 14) £3

Location: Swindon Cricket Club, The County Ground, County Road, Swindon SN1 2EE

Facilities: Refreshments, Soft, Hot & Alcoholic drinks available, Live Music, Family friendly, Funfair

Date/Times: Saturday, November 2, from 5pm

This year’s family-friendly firework and bonfire night at the Swindon Cricket Club is set to be an outstanding show of colour as Swindon's night sky is transformed by this mesmerising firework display.

Red Oaks Firework Display

Price: £5.50 Adults, £4 Children

Location: Red Oaks Primary School, Redhouse Way, Blunsdon St Andrew, Swindon SN25 2AN

Facilities: BBQ Food, Refreshments, Family friendly

Date/Times: Tuesday, November 5 at 5:30pm

The Red Oaks Firework Display in Blunsdon St Andrew, Swindon is set to be a banger, with a fantastic BBQ on the go as well as a range of refreshments - and of course the all-important brilliant firework display.

Lydiard Fireworks and Bonfire Spectacular

Price: Adult £10, Child (ages 5 - 15) £5, Under 5s Free, Family Ticket - 2 Adults and up to 3 Children £25, VIP ticket (admits 5) £40

Location: Lydiard Tregoze, Swindon, SN5 3PA

Facilities: Firework display, Bonfire, Food and drink stalls

Date/Times: Saturday 2nd November, Doors open at 4:30pm

The grounds of Lydiard Park will be packed with punters wanting to celebrate this autumnal occasion as an epic evening of fireworks entertainment is put on at this popular Swindon park.
