An event celebrating two famed Wiltshire nature writers is set to take place at Lydiard Park.
The event, titled 'Countrymen,' will offer an illustrated talk and a celebration of the works of Richard Jefferies and Vernon St John.
It will be held on Wednesday, October 16, at Lydiard House, starting at 7pm, with doors opening at 6.30pm.
The talk will be led by Mike Pringle, director of the Richard Jefferies Museum in Swindon, and Sarah Finch-Crisp, chair of Friends of Lydiard Park.
They will explore the commonalities between Jefferies, a farmer's son who rose to fame, and St John, a reclusive aristocrat with a passion for the countryside.
The evening will include performances from David Phillips and Diana Bickley of the Swindon Opera Collective, who will sing nature-inspired songs, and guest readers, who will bring the writers' words to life.
The event will be held in the 18th-century hall of Lydiard House, the former home of the Bolingbrokes.
During the interval, attendees will be treated to homemade canapés crafted by Lydiard's resident hotel chef, Marcus Vevey.
Tickets are priced at £20, with a discounted rate of £15 for Friends of Lydiard Park and Friends of Richard Jefferies Museum.
