Swindon's Wyvern Theatre is set to host a range of music and theatre shows over the next few months.

For those who love rock 'n' roll, 'Buddy Holly and the Cricketers' is set to entertain later this month.

The band will play at the Swindon Arts Centre on Monday, October 14, as part of their autumn tour.

Producer Simon Fielder of Simon Fielder Productions said: “As a young guitarist I listened to Buddy and he massively influenced my playing and writing.

"My adult life has been spent performing his music and presenting other actor musicians on stages all over the world who have brought delight to thousands and thousands of people.

"The show has been on the road for 32 years now and even managed some performances during the years of the pandemic."

Shortly after, '50 Years of Fender' will return to the Swindon Arts Centre on Saturday, October 26.

Showrunner and lead guitarist, Dave Phillips, said: "The Strat is such a fascinating instrument.

"We buy our Stratocasters because our heroes played one, but they also bought their Strats because of their heroes.

"Its look and sound is so quintessential to the player and the music that they've made with it - it inspired me to build a show around the history, the music and the players of this unique and definitive instrument."

Debuting their first Christmas show, Entertainers, will present 'Step Into Christmas'.

It will feature a host of classic Christmas songs including 'All I Want for Christmas Is You,' 'Last Christmas,' and 'Jingle Bell Rock'.

The show is produced by Entertainers, a company run by father and son team, Michael and James Taylor.

Their portfolio includes more than 30 productions such as 'The Magic of Motown' and 'The Rocket Man'.

Next spring, the musical adaptation of 'The Gruffalo' will bring its charm to the theatre.

Celebrating 25 years in 2024, the show is a fun-filled adventure through the deep, dark wood, suitable for children aged three and above.

It has been described as a "charming tale told with refreshing simplicity" by the Times, and will be at the Wyvern Theatre on March 14 and 15.
