A charity has been offered a new home after the lease of its office was terminated unexpectedly.

Connecting Communities, a Swindon-based charity founded in 2018, was left without a base after its Edison Park premises lease ended this month.

The charity provides a safe space for vulnerable women from varied backgrounds and supports re-settled refugee families by providing essential household goods.

It now has a new home within The Link Leisure Centre, offered by GLL, the charitable social enterprise that operates Swindon’s leisure facilities.

Tajwar Hussan, chair of Connecting Communities, said: "I am very thankful to GLL for stepping in to support Connecting Communities after the closure of the Faith Centre and for providing us with a generous space to continue our activities for the wider Swindon community.

"We look forward to celebrating our partnership and working together to utilise this space for the benefit of all."

The new base provides meeting and storage space, allowing the charity to continue its work.

Mark Harrison, community sports manager for GLL, said: "As a charitable social enterprise, one of our core values is supporting the local communities in which we operate.

"When we heard about Connecting Communities' plight, we wanted to help."
