The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates Court in recent days.

STRATTON: Gary Peapell, of Ermin Street in Stratton, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a vehicle along County Road while unfit to drive through drink on June 2, 2024. 

He has been banned from driving for 40 months, jailed for 12 weeks due to his previous driving record and record of offending, and ordered to pay £154 to fund victim services.

STRATTON: Finley Rose, of Meadowcroft, has been sentenced for criminal damage.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to damaging a Ring doorbell in Swindon on June 3, 2024.

He must pay £100 in compensation.

SWINDON: Keith Mills, of Levell Court in Ludgershall, has been sentenced for two offences.

The 47-year-old pleaded guilty to using threatening or abusive words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress towards someone in Tidworth on April 2, 2024, and indicated a plea of guilty to using racially aggravated abusive or insulting words towards a police officer in Swindon on the same day.

He must pay a fine of £200.

WILTSHIRE: George Edwards, of Blackthorn Way in Staverton, has been sentenced for thefts from a shop.

The 27-year-old pleaded guilty to taking goods worth £3.85 from the Bradford-on-Avon Co-op on September 15, 2024. and indicated a plea of guilty to stealing rugs worth £400 from Tesco Extra in Trowbridge with other people’s help on September 19.

He received a community order that requires him to carry out up to 25 rehabilitation activity days.

A criminal behaviour order bans him from entering Spitfire Retail Park, The Shires Shopping Centre, The Gateway Shopping Centre on Bythesea Road, any Tesco and Morrison’s and Sainsbury’s in Trowbridge, and any Sainsbury’s in Melksham or Bradford on Avon or any Co-op in Bradford on Avon for two years.

TADPOLE GARDEN VILLAGE: Sylgatha Abon, of Steinlen Close, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Honda Civic along Thamesdown Drive on October 24, 2023, when she did not have proper control of the vehicle.

She received three penalty points on her driving licence and must also pay a £160 fine and £90 in court costs plus £64 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Martin Burrows, of no fixed abode, has been sentenced for three offences.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to stealing food worth £25 from Tesco Express on August 10, 2024, and taking Pokemon cards worth £110.80 from Waterstones on August 6, as well as failing to surrender to custody at Swindon Magistrates Court on September 4 having been released on bail in criminal proceedings on August 20 at Gablecross Police Station.

He received a community order that requires him to carry out six months of drug rehabilitation and up to 20 rehabilitation activity days.

SWINDON: Gary Darville, of Highworth Road, has been sentenced for assault.

The 43-year-old pleaded guilty to beating a woman in Swindon on July 2, 2024.

He received a community order that requires him to carry out up to 10 rehabilitation activity days and pay £114 to fund victim services.

PARK SOUTH: Mark Dennis, of Culpepper Close, has been sentenced for one offence.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty using threatening or abusive words within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress at Great Western Hospital on September 26, 2024.

He must pay a fine of £100.
