A 27-year-old man who has spent a year taking on the most demanding sporting challenges he could paddled 125 miles in a canoe from Devizes to London.

Jack Harrison, from York, started his challenge in June last year by scaling the 15,780ft Mont Blanc after searching for "the UK's toughest races" and "the world's toughest races" on Google.

One of his more recent endeavours saw him travel in a canoe from Devizes to Westminster as he took part in the DW Race.

Since tackling the mountain, Mr Harrison has been to the Arctic Circle and done cross-country skiing in Sweden, as well as taking on several UK challenges.

He said: "Looking back, it’s amazing I managed to pull everything off - in terms of getting the right kit, qualifying for races, securing a spot, avoiding injuries, and having no major issues during the races themselves."

Following his first challenge, he sailed from Iceland to Greenland - known as the Arctic Circle Expedition.

He said: "We navigated past icebergs and faced harsh weather, as is common in Arctic sailing.

"I earned the title of Blue Nose sailor, an achievement for those who cross this latitude."

He also tackled Raeburn's Easy Route on Ben Nevis - the UK’s highest peak at 4,413ft.

He said: "This route is popular with winter climbers due to its accessibility and relatively moderate difficulty, though it still requires technical skill, especially when ice is involved."

A trip to Sweden to complete a gruelling cross-country ski race followed, covering 90 km from Sälen to Mora.

"Despite minimal training, my two friends and I completed the race, fighting through exhaustion to finish within the cut-off," he said.

Next up for Mr Harrison was the Race to the Castle, which is the longest river paddleboarding race in the UK - covering 40 km from Nottingham to Newark.

He also completed a 200 mile road cycle in Norfolk, a 100km ultramarathon and a nine hour mountain biking race.
