Buckhurst Field play area is set to be refurbished.
Work is starting to improve the play area as part of ambitious plans from South Swindon Parish Council to breathe new life into the overall park.
The play area is currently closed while the parish council's play maintenance team removed some of the existing equipment.
The work will add new inclusive equipment to enable use by children of a range of abilities and ages. There will be new swings, a sensory play board, a zipline, a hurricane swing and more.
The pathways around the play area will also be widened and improved.
Once it has begun on Monday, April 29, the work will take approximately 3-4 weeks, dependent on weather conditions.
While this site is closed, the next nearest play area is the Oakfield play area on the other side of Marlowe Avenue to Buckhurst Field.

This work comes as part of a £600,000 investment into Buckhurst Field in the Park North and Walcot area.
The plans include the aforementioned new play area, the rebuild of the skate park, sports facilities including football pitches and a renovated sports pavilion, a cycle path and landscaping.
South Swindon Parish Council say that the upgrades should take 18 months to complete, and they will work in partnership with Swindon Borough Council, the Football Foundation and the Oakfield Development Board.
