A young Wiltshire woman has appeared in court after being charged for causing the deaths of a couple in a crash on the A303.
Jessica Higgs, 20, was driving a Mercedes Citan van in Camel Hill near Yeovil on May 15, 2023, when her vehicle collided with a Fiat 500.
Emergency services were called to the incident, but Tony Mist who was driving the car, and his passenger Thelma Huse, both 69, died as a result of the crash.
Higgs was charged with two counts of causing death by driving without due care while over the limit for a specific controlled drug, namely Benzoylecgonine.
She appeared before Yeovil Magistrates Court on April 3, but only to formally identify herself.
Because of the seriousness of the case, Yeovil Magistrates decided to refer the case to Taunton Crown Court.
Ms Higgs has been released on unconditional bail and will next appear there for a plea hearing on May 7.
