The following cases were heard at Swindon Magistrates' Court earlier this week.

WILTSHIRE: Philip Histed, of Blackthorn Way in Staverton, has been sentenced for making threats to kill and causing criminal damage.

The 53-year-old pleaded guilty to causing £320 worth of damage to a Wiltshire Police transport van in Royal Wootton Bassett on September 3, 2023, and causing the same amount of damage to a police transport van in Melksham on the same date.

The defendant also indicated pleas of guilty to threatening to kill a man in Trowbridge on September 2 and December 15, 2023.

He received a 16-week prison sentence that has been suspended for 12 months, and received a community order that requires him to carry out 70 hours of unpaid work in the next 12 months plus up to 20 rehab activity days, and pay £200 in compensation for the damage caused.

A new restraining order prevents him from contacting the victim he threatened or visiting an address in the town.

RODBOURNE: Samuel Alabi, of Lynmouth Road, has been sentenced for a driving offence.

The 33-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Peugeot 308 along Cheney Manor Industrial Estate without due care and attention or a valid licence on January 24, 2024.

The vehicle mounted the kerb and crashed into a fence.

He received six penalty points on his driving licence and a £576 fine, and must also pay £85 in court costs as well as £230 to fund victim services.

ELDENE: Ryan Baverstock, of Bowleymead, has been sentenced for drug driving.

The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a BMW 120d along Groundwell Road on August 11, 2023, when the proportion of Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, in his blood, namely 2.7 micrograms of drug per litre of blood, exceeded the specified limit.

He also indicated a plea of guilty to possessing cannabis on the same date.

The defendant has been banned from driving for 36 months, fined £120, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £48 to fund victim services.

The Class B drug has been forfeited and destroyed.

HAYDON END: Abraham Pinto, of Casterbridge Road, has been sentenced for drink driving.

The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a Ford Fiesta between Junctions 16 and 17 of the M4 on October 8, 2023, after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion of it in his blood, namely 109 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood, exceeded the prescribed limit.

He has been banned from driving for 14 months, fined £415, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs as well as £166 to fund victim services.

CHIPPENHAM: Charlotte Hudd, of Ladyfield Road, has been sentenced for assaulting an emergency services officer.

The 22-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to beating a male police officer in Chippenham on January 26, 2024.

She must pay £50 in compensation as well as a £115 fine, £85 in court costs, and £46 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: Lee Tatum, of HMP Channings Wood in Devon, has been sentenced for using racially aggravated words to cause intentional harassment, alarm or distress.

The 42-year-old indicated a plea of guilty to the offence, which happened in Swindon on December 19, 2023.

He has been ordered to pay £75 in compensation to his victim.

CHIPPENHAM: Jennifer Lyon, of Larkham Rise, has been sentenced for sending threatening messages.

The 58-year-old pleaded guilty to sending a woman Facebook messages which conveyed a threat for the purpose of causing distress or anxiety on October 13, 2023.

She received an £80 fine and must also pay £85 in court costs as well as £36 to fund victim services.
