An Aldershot fan has been banned from matches after a visit to Swindon.

The incident happened on the day Swindon Town were beaten 7-4 at home by the National League side in the first round of the FA Cup.

Sam Weston, 34, of Roberts Road, Aldershot, travelled from Hampshire for the game on November 4 and damaged a Vauxhall Corsa belonging to a Swindon resident, which landed him in trouble with the law.

After issuing a guilty plea on November 29, 2023, Mr Weston appeared before Swindon Magistrates' Court this month where he was given a football banning order following his criminal damage conviction.

The order has been placed for three years and means Weston cannot attend any football matches in person anywhere in the UK.

Weston is also not allowed to enter any town or city where Aldershot Football Club are playing an away fixture 12 hours before the scheduled kick-off time until six hours after the scheduled kick-off time.

He also isn’t allowed within half a mile of the centre spot of the EBB Stadium, his club’s home ground, for four hours before the scheduled kick-off time until six hours after the scheduled kick-off time of any Aldershot FC home match.

There were some violent scenes after the FA Cup game, with videos of Aldershot fans storming a Swindon pub surfacing online.

Wiltshire Police confirmed at the time that three people had been arrested, one for criminal damage of a vehicle, one for assault of a steward and one for throwing an item on the pitch.
