He originally pleaded not guilty to the first charge but changed this to guilty on February 24, 2023, and pleaded guilty to the second charge.

Along with the fines, he must pay £100 in compensation plus £85 in court costs and £47 to fund victim services.

WILTSHIRE: A would-be taxi driver tried to appeal Wiltshire Council’s refusal to give him a driving licence for hackney carriages.

Mehmet Beykanoglu disagreed with the local authority’s decision on March 31, 2022 and tried to get Swindon Magistrates Court to overturn it.

Earlier this month, magistrates declared that they found nothing to support his contentions that he had been treated unfairly, or inconsistently compared with other drivers.

Magistrates do not feel that Mr Beykanoglu is a fit and proper person to hold taxi licences and agree with Wiltshire Council's decision. The appeal is therefore rejected.

He must pay £450 in costs to Wiltshire Council within the next month.

Pounder received no separate penalty for pleading guilty to having no insurance on the same day.

TOWN CENTRE: Ibrar Ahmed, of Cumberland Road, has been banned from the roads for three years after admitting to several driving offences.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty to driving a BMW on Marlborough Road without a licence, failing to stop at a red light, using a motor vehicle without insurance, and failing to provide a specimen of blood for analysis when required on January 21, 2023.

He must pay £85 in costs plus £114 to fund victim services, and carry out 170 hours of unpaid work.

FERNDALE: Zico Rodrigues, of Kitchener Street, has lost his licence for 15 months and been fined £484 after drink driving.

The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

He must pay £85 in court costs plus £194 to fund victim services.

SWINDON: A 17-year-old girl, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been fined £166 after pleading guilty to assault.

The teenager beat a woman in Swindon on August 26.

Along with the fine, she must pay £85 in court costs and £150 in compensation to her victim.
