A smartphone app has been devised to keep people up to date when Fleming Way is completely closed for up to two years from early September.
The road will be shut to allow for the work to be done to create the boulevard- a centrepiece of Swindon Borough Council’s regeneration plans for that part of town.
As well as making the road a hub for public transport, workers will drop the entire surface, allowing pedestrians to cross from the shopping area to the business district at Kimmerfields without having to use a dark underpass.
In anticipation of the work, the contractors Cola Projects Ltd have created a free smartphone app to keep people appraised of what’s going on.
The app gives update posts on the progress of work and also allows users to talk to the contractors about what they are doing.
The latest post made on August 22 after two public information events at the Swindon Hub in the Parade says contractor staff will continue to be available in The Hub every Tuesday and Thursday between noon and 2pm to answer questions.
Hello Worx is available from the Apple app store and Google Play store and works with iPhones and Android devices. It may appear as Hello Travaux on your phone. Simply enter Swindon into the search box and click on the bulldozer icon on Fleming Way.
