The number of coronavirus cases in Swindon increased by 158 in the last 24 hours, official figures show.

A total of 60,742 cases had been confirmed in Swindon when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on Friday, up from 60,584 on Thursday.

The cumulative rate of infection in Swindon, which covers the whole pandemic, stands at 27,253 cases per 100,000 people, which is lower than the England average of 27,946.

Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 47,147 over the period, to 18,546,205.

As of Thursday, the Covid-19 case rate in Swindon was 760 per 100k people, while the respective south west and England averages were 763 and 570 per 100k people. One more person in Swindon has died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19.

The dashboard shows 360 people with Covid have died in the Swindon area since the pandemic began.

The latest figures show 167,830 people had received both jabs by February 17 – 80 per cent of those aged 12 and over, based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.

Across England, 85 per cent of people aged 12 and above had received a second dose of the jab.

Between February 6 and 12, there were 1,693 new Covid cases in Swindon.

As of February 13, 85.6 per cent of people aged 12 and over in Swindon have received their first dose of a Covid vaccine, and 80.1 per cent of people aged 12 and over have received both doses.

The percentage of people aged 18 and over in Swindon who have received three or more doses is 68.7 per cent.
