TWO WOMEN have admitted attempting to rob another of a mobile phone and cash.

Shelley Wendy Jane Jackson and Kelly Louise Thirkettle both admitted charges in connection with the robbery of the woman’s phone and cash, valued at £100, in Swindon on September 26, 2018.

Having initially denied the charge, Jackson, of no fixed abode, was due to stand trial at Swindon Crown Court this week but struck a plea deal on Monday.

She admitted attempted robbery and will be sentenced on March 7.

Meanwhile, Thirkettle, of Bathampton Street, had previously admitted the charge and was not part of the trial. She will also be sentenced in March.

Recorder David Chidgey ordered pre-sentence reports for both women, aged 39 and 40.

Meanwhile, a third person, who was due to stand trial charged with attempted robbery this week had his case dropped after the complainant refused to give evidence.

Keith Alexander Williams, of Groves Street in Rodbourne, was found not guilty by the recorder after the prosecution put forward no evidence.

Speaking on Tuesday morning, prosecutor Joshua Purser said: “Our complainant has refused to attend court.

"Without her there is no prospect of success and therefore the Crown submit no evidence.”
