FORMER Swindon Town defender Jamie Vincent has died aged 46, the club has announced.
After signing as a free agent from Yeovil Town, left-back Vincent made 89 appearances for Swindon between 2006 and 2009 without finding the net.
In a brief statement released via Town's Facebook and Twitter pages, the club said: "Swindon Town Football Club are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of former defender, Jamie Vincent.
"Our thoughts go out to all of Jamie's family and friends at this incredibly sad time. RIP."
After making his debut in a gritty 1-0 win at Hartlepool United in 2006, the left-back went on to play 36 more times as Dennis Wise's men secured promotion to League One.
Vincent played 52 more times for Swindon - and was handed the vice-captaincy under Paul Sturrock - before being released in 2009 and going on to play for Walsall, Aldershot Town, and Didcot Town prior to his retirment in 2012.
