Great Western Hospitals has been recognised as a trust which leads the way in improving veteran care.
The Lord Lieutenant of Wiltshire Sarah Rose Troughton awarded GWH with a certificate which grants the trust 'Veteran Aware' status.
Veteran Aware organisations are examples of the best care providers for veterans.
They ensure armed forces members are not disadvantaged, train staff to be aware of veterans' needs, and signpost extra available services provided to the armed forces community.
GWH committed to supporting veterans if they applied to work at the trust.
Head of service for integrated medicine Adam Commons said: "As a veteran myself, after 22 years of the army, it's great to be part of an organisation that's recognising the commitment that veterans give to the country and to the public and also that the trust is signposting as being able to give something back to veterans by identifying themselves as recognising veterans and what they do.
"Most people may know that veterans are probably the worst for asking for help, but if more people are aware that the help is there it can help to improve their outcomes, their patient journey and their inpatient stay.
"If there's an awareness that there's a veteran on board, then their care can be tailored and considerations made to their service and background."
