VILLAGERS will be holding their third beer festival to raise funds for local projects in Wanborough.

After being postponed in 2020 due to the ongoing pandemic, the event will take place tomorrow and Saturday from 12pm to 11pm.

A group of four villagers, the local Vicar and a former publican who met four years ago are behind the festival.

They originally set up the event to raise money for a heating system at the local 14th century church – St Andrew’s.

Co-organiser Graeme Williamson said: “The group who soon became known as the Old Boilers, decided a beer festival would be an interesting way forward.

“With the assistance of many local people and businesses, and through their sponsorship, this took place in April 2018 in the grounds of The New Calley Arms.

“This festival and the following one raised significant funds which were used to provide the updated heating system.

“The Old Boilers continue in their efforts to raise funds for the use of local projects, such as the Finger Posts on local walks, subsidy of trips to a local Vineyard and the Salisbury Christmas Market and lately the local Wanborough Summer Show.”

Entry is by ticket only and tickets are priced at £10 per day and include a commemorative glass, a programme, and an initial issue of tokens to spend on the refreshment.

Catering is provided by The New Calley Arms and the event will feature live music.
