THE latest coronavirus infection rate map shows that the number of new cases in Swindon is falling.
Though infection rates remain high around the borough, with many areas coloured dark blue and some showing as purple, fewer positive Covid tests were recorded in many parts of the borough during the week up to August 23 than the week before.
Pinehurst saw a whopping 71 per cent fall in new cases, with just eight recorded that week, making it the only part of Swindon to appear as light blue on the map.
Broad Blunsdon, South Marston and Wanborough saw the most new cases recorded - 45 - while Walcot East had the highest infection rate of 521.4 cases per 100,000 population.
Swindon's overall infection rate as of August 23 was 353.1 cases per 100,000 population, with 787 new cases reported in the seven days up to that date, which was 48 fewer than the week before.
