ONE of Westbury's oldest and well-known former pubs is to be sold at a public auction.
The Lopes Arms will be offered for sale by auction on Thursday, August 26.
Wiltshire Council granted planning permission on June 17 for the former pub to be converted into three three-bedroomed homes.
There is vehicular access at the rear and each home will have its own garden and two parking spaces.
Due to its location and size, it is believed there is potential for an alternative scheme with an increased number of dwellings subject to consents.
There is also potential to renovate the building and re-establish it as a pub, hotel or restaurant.
The property in Market Place is being marketed by residential sales agents Savills, alongside auctioneers Strakers, with a guide price in excess of £550,000.
The Grade 2 listed building was named after Sir Manasseh Massey Lopes who bought the manor and borough in 1810.
