I once asked Alan if he adjusted his play list of records to the reaction from the public. He laughed and said "No, it's the other way round!" RIP.

Alan turned me on to so much good music with his Swindon College disco in the 1970's. He complimented the amazing line
ups there for a small town.

Alan had his fingers on the pulse of progressive of the time. His theme tune was 'Hurry on Sundown' by Hawkwind. A band that performed in the New Hall during that time. A song a still enjoy.
Alan also encouraged others in musical activities. My school contemporary, Gary Williams did a disco inspired by Alan.
Alan's calm persona and soft Welsh accent always felt like a safe pair of hands.
My condolences go to his wife and family.
