COURTNEY Edna Muriel (née Cole) ACIS Passed away peacefully at home in Highworth on 31st March 2022 aged 102 with her family by her side. Born in Hythe, Kent on 16 February 1920. On leaving school Edna joined the Wrens as an Aircraft Radio Mechanic in 1941, retiring as a Petty Officer in 1946. She then followed in her father's footsteps to become a second-generation Chartered Secretary. She spent most of her working life in local government up to the age of 60. She then continued to work part time for a local solicitor for the next 20 years computerising all their files and training them how to use the computer. Edna spent her last 19 years in Highworth, taking every opportunity to get out and about in the countryside. Her favourite destinations were Cotswold Wildlife Park, Roves Farm and the Carpenter's Canteen at Coleshill. She spent many happy hours in these locations, where she was welcomed by the staff. She will be sadly missed by her 2 sons Richard and Brian and daughter in law Usha. The burial will take place at Westmill burial ground at midday on 26 April.
