Some of the local Neighbourhood policing team will be stationed at the cloister gardens in Malmesbury between 6.00 pm and 8 pm on Tuesday (19/07).

Two street briefings held in Malmesbury earlier this week have been deemed a success by officers who attended to discuss anti social behaviour issues in the town- Wiltshire Police has said.

Insp James Brain and Sgt Jamie Ball attended the briefing alongside the town council, Mayor Kim Power, Councillor Gavin Grant and Malmesbury School deputy headteacher to discuss ongoing problems involving a small group of youths in the town.

Approximately 50 residents attended the first briefing and 25 attended the second.

Police and Crime Commissioner Phil Wilkinson also attended the first briefing to answer questions and concerns from residents.

The meeting comes after four teenagers were arrested in relation to an incident of arson in the grounds of Malmesbury Abbey.

The incident happened on Friday, June 3– where three bins were set alight which caused some damage to an exterior wall of the building.
