Commuters and travellers using the trains from Swindon are facing disruption as the heatwave bits.

Great Western Railway has introduced a revised timetable across Monday and Tuesday as temperatures rocket, with a number of trains cancelled or re-timed

The Met Office has issued a red alert for the extreme high temperatures with figures expected to hit the high 30s and could also break the 40-degree mark for the first time.

This means that there is a danger to life.

Trains are having to run at a reduced speed as the extreme temperatures can cause the rail to expand and buckle, which could cause a train to de-rail.

At present two trains per hour are leaving for London Paddington which are leaving at 20 minutes and 40 minutes past each hour.

One train per hour is leaving for Swansea, while the same applies for services to Bristol and Cheltenham.

All services to Cardiff have been cancelled.

Great Western Railway is advising passengers to only travel when it is necessary and to bring plenty of water and sunscreen
