Chairman hopes for change in fortune
WESTBURY chairman Neil Hawker is hoping Saturday's 35 run win over Keynsham will spark a change of luck for his struggling side.
Westbury remain second-bottom despite winning at the weekend and Hawker hopes his team can now emerge from their recent disappointing run.
Hawker said: "We've just been so unlucky, hopefully the luck has changed.
"We lost against Taunton Deane but they had an ex-Somerset player when they played us. They haven't had that when they played anyone else. When we played Thornbury they had a Gloucestershire player playing for them.
"We smashed 300 against Lansdown and then it rained.
"We've always had the potential of winning, it's just one of those unfortunate things."
Hawker wants his team to take inspiration from Premier Two leaders Bristol in their fight against the drop.
He said: "Last year Bristol escaped relegation by a point with exactly the same players. Everybody's beatable."
Westbury made a good start against Keynsham on Saturday with Joe Breet and 16-year-old Richard Mills forging a 62 partnership.
Breet (38), Mills (18) and Matthew Milton (2) were dismissed in quick succession but Johan Fourie (42) restored stability.
Jon Dilena (15), Ben Whiting (10) and James Dark (12) all chipped in as Westbury finished on 172.
The home side then dismissed Keynsham for 137, with only knocks by Dan Jarman (41) and Ian Payter (26) causing concern.
Fourie claimed 5-30 and Breet ending with figures of 5-36.
